Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is a psychotherapeutic technique that was originally designed to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It has expanded to treat a wide range of other problems, including childhood trauma, loss, depression, anxiety, abuse, self-esteem issues and addictions. It is also used to enhance performance by athletes, actors, managers and competitors in every walk of life.
EMDR Therapy is a systematic, psychotherapeutic tool involving bilateral sensory stimulation through eye movements, tapping or sounds that allows the client to utilize an internal processing mechanism that synthesizes and integrates the thoughts, memories, feelings and bodily sensations surrounding their challenge or traumatic experience. It stimulates the brain and nervous system to process and integrate disturbing memories and thought patterns in the most efficient manner. EMDR Therapy draws on and enhances the individual's innate ability to heal and resolve inner wounds and conflicts.
